The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA), working with Ellsworth Police, searched the home of Matthew Wright on Water Street in Ellsworth late Wednesday evening. Agents seized over 330 retail bags of heroin, $2,100 and two handguns, one of which was loaded.  Agents also seized approximately forty grams of another substance that has not yet been positively identified.

Wright was arrested and charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Heroin and taken to the Hancock County Jail. Bail is set at $2,500 cash and his initial court appearance is scheduled for February 21, 2013. If convicted, Wright faces a minimum four year prison sentence.

Wright has been under investigation by MDEA for the past month, and evidence includes the purchase of both heroin and cocaine from Wright.  Additional charges are expected against Wright and other arrests are also likely. The heroin seized in this case has a street value of $11,000.
