Bicycle Coalition of Maine launches "BikeMaine," a major new ride

On its twentieth anniversary, the Bicycle Coalition of Maine (BCM) is launching a major new 7-day bicycle event that will showcase Maine as a premier cycling destination on the East Coast. BCM is Maine’s leading voice for bicyclists with programs on safety, improved infrastructure and advocacy both in Augusta and Washington. As a result of BCM’s efforts, Maine has consistently ranked in the top ten bicycle-friendly states and as high as number two last year.

The new ride, called "BikeMaine," will be a weeklong rolling exploration of Maine with each year’s route taking place in a different part of the state. Bicyclists will camp in designated host communities each evening and eat community-prepared meals using Maine ingredients.

The best of Maine from across the creative spectrum will be gathered together at the 10th annual show on the Rockland waterfront, August 10-12, 2012. Beautiful boats, unique handcrafted products, and an eclectic mix of high-quality goods for life on the water and the shore will again be on display at Maine’s only in-the-water boat show and coastal lifestyle event.

“I’ve always thought of the show as a tremendous party where the most creative folks on the coast share what they do with customers and other exhibitors.

The Maine Association for Charter Schools (MACS) will celebrate the great work accomplished by public charter schools across the country, where over 5,000 public chartered schools are serving 1.8 million students.

Construction update at MCMH - Valet services move to emergency center entrance

Effective Monday, December 12, valet services at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital will temporarily move to the emergency center entrance.   This change is due to the Mary Dow Center for Cancer Care construction that is underway at the front of the hospital.

Free Valet Services for those needing assistance will still be available 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday at this new location at the emergency center entrance.
