Golfers Invited to Premier Golf Event on the Coast of Maine

Schoodic Scramble Features New One Day Format

The planning for the 15th Annual Schoodic Scramble is well underway.  The format has been changed to a one day format making the tournament easier to fit into busy schedules.  Golfers will play 18 holes at the Grindstone Golf Course in Winter Harbor.  The dates are Saturday and Sunday, September 15 and 16 with golfers getting to choose which day that works best for them.  The volunteers will be there both days to provide the same amenities (plus a few surprises for our 15th year!) that have made it a "must play” for golfers over the years.

Proceeds will benefit the Eleanor Widener Dixon Memorial Clinic in Gouldsboro, an out-patient department of Maine Coast Memorial Hospital.  The lead sponsors of the Scramble are Mrs. Edith Dixon and Mr.

Swan Lake State Park to Hold Annual Family Fun Day

Swan Lake State Park to Hold Annual Family Fun Day

Swan Lake State Park in Swanville, managed by the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands, under the Maine Department of Conservation, is holding its fifth annual family celebration this Sunday. If the weather is right, numerous local and statewide visitors will show up to enjoy all the entertainment, children’s activities, a celebrity visit by Smokey Bear and the Shriner Clowns, and picnic food.

Park Manager Corie Dimmitt has seen Family Fun Day attendance grow, with more than 700 people visiting last year on event day. Interested people from all over Maine begin to ask about the event as soon as the park opens each spring, the park manager said.

“They like it because it’s something in the local community,” Dimmitt said.
