CCLC To Host Pulitzer Prize Winning Novelist Richard Ford

CCLC To Host Pulitzer Prize Winning Novelist Richard Ford

When Penny Guisinger, the Director of Development at the Cobscook Community Learning Center, invited Richard Ford, one of her literary heroes, to visit the center, it had not occurred to her that he might say, "Yes."

But he did.

"What he said is that he loves coming to Washington County, and that he would be happy to help out," describes Guisinger. That conversation took place at a public reading almost two years ago, and the timing has finally worked out for Ford to make the trip. Pulitzer prize winner Richard Ford will be appearing at the CCLC on Wednesday August 8th. There will be a reception with the author at 6 pm, and then Ford will deliver a lecture and a reading at 7:30. Tickets are $25 for the reception, and $10 for the lecture and reading.

Ellsworth Middle School Hand Hygiene Poster Contest Winners

ELLSWORTH:   Students at Ellsworth Middle School participated in a Hand Hygiene Poster contest sponsored by Maine Coast Memorial Hospital at their recent student carnival.  The posters were designed by the students to emphasize the importance of Hand Hygiene.  These posters will be hung at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital and its associated clinics to serve as another reminder for staff to wash their hands before and after any patient contact.   Hand Hygiene is the number one way to prevent hospital acquired infections and these posters are a colorful way to remind staff and visitors of this fact.   The winners Bettina Bresinsky, Emma Henry, and Aliza Dwyer (not present) are shown with their winning entries.
