Business, News, Schools

ELLSWORTH - The Maine Community Foundation (MaineCF) manages nearly 450 scholarship funds that benefit students in every county in Maine.
MaineCF scholarships support students pursuing music, journalism, teaching, horticulture, technology, the arts, and many other fields. They are available for students attending secondary, post-secondary, and graduate schools, as well as non-traditional programs.
A complete listing of scholarships available for the upcoming school year is now online at the “For Students” page of the Maine Community Foundation website, http://www.mainecf.org/.
Last year, MaineCF awarded $1.1 million in scholarships to approximately 900 Maine students attending schools in the state, across the country, and around the world, including Scotland, Israel, Chile, and Canada.
“Each scholarship award is a gift of educational opportunity from a Maine Community Foundation donor to present and future generations,” said Meredith Jones, MaineCF president.
These funds are established for a variety of reasons, from honoring a family member to carrying on the tradition of “giving back” that helped an individual through college.
To establish a scholarship fund at MaineCF, call Cherie Galyean, scholarship manager, at 1-877-700-6800.
A statewide nonprofit with offices in Ellsworth and Portland, the Maine Community Foundation has been partnering with nonprofits and donors to strengthen Maine communities since 1983.
