Blue Hill Memorial Hospital Offers Flu Clinics
Events, Health, News

Blue Hill Memorial Hospital will be offering flu clinics through its Peninsula Primary Care practices located in Blue Hill, Bucksport, Castine, and Stonington.  Last year, many patients elected to receive separate immunizations to protect them against H1N1 and seasonal influenza.  This year, a single immunization will provide protection against both strains of the flu.

Blue Hill Family Medicine will offer a flu clinic on Friday, October 22 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.  Patients who wish to receive an immunization at this location should call the practice at 374-2311 to schedule an appointment.

Island Family Medicine in Stonington will offer flu clinics on Tuesday October 19 and Thursday, October 21.  Both clinics will take place from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.  Patients who wish to schedule an appointment at this practice should call 367-2311.

Bucksport Family Medicine will offer flu clinics on Thursday, October 21 and Wednesday, November 3 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Patients who wish to schedule an appointment at this practice should call 469-6880.

Castine Community Health Services will offer flu clinics on October 19, 21, 22, 26, 28, and 29 between 8:00 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.   Appointments can be made by calling 326-4348.

According to Deborah Turner, vice president, physician practices for Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, the supply of vaccines is less problematic than last year.  “We do not anticipate major shortages of vaccines in our family medicine practices this year,” says Turner.  “We do anticipate heavy demand for our flu clinic appointments, however, and these slots will be filled on a first come, first served basis.  We are also, of course, providing the vaccine when it is appropriate during routine exams and to our hospitalized patients.”
