The Acadia Hospital is pleased to announce the promotion of three of its employees. Naomi Brown, PMH-NP has become the Director of Magnet and Research, Dan Johnson, PhD has become the Director of Education, and Jeanne Wypyski, LCSW, CCS has been chosen as the Administrator for Adult Inpatient Services.

Brown will bring her passion for nursing and Acadia Hospital to her position, and will work very closely with nursing leaders and with the new Director of Education to maintain Acadia's level of clinical and service excellence. She began her psychiatric nursing career at Acadia in 1994, working in various programs including inpatient, Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program and Ambulatory Services. Most recently Brown served as an administrator. She was appointed the co-chair of the nursing research committee in 2009 and has been involved nationally, sitting on the American Nurse Credentialing Center Content Expert Panel from 2005-2009 for the advanced practice psychiatric nurse exam.

Johnson will work very closely with all disciplines and with the new Director of Magnet to meet the educational needs of the entire Acadia Hospital staff. Johnson has worked at The Acadia Hospital for the past 17 years. He is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) and a nationally board certified clinical (NBCC) counselor. Additionally, Johnson has a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Maine and a master’s degree in education from Smith College. His clinical work began as a therapist on the Children's Unit and later as a clinical supervisor for the Child and Adolescent Service, the inpatient Adult Service, and the outpatient Substance Abuse Service.

As the Inpatient Administrator, Wypyski will be responsible for the long-term growth and business operations for the hospital’s three adult inpatient units consistent with the mission and strategic plan of Acadia. Wypyski has more than 15 years of experience managing clinical programs at Acadia Hospital in both inpatient and outpatient services. She understands clinical program operations, has a solid recovery framework and is skilled at creating efficiencies and prompting interdepartmental synergy. Wypyski holds a bachelors of Science in Social Work from the University of Maine and a Master’s Degree from the University of Denver.
