Movies: "Midnight in Paris"

Movies: "Midnight in Paris"

For movie lovers, here’s a charming little palate cleanser between the main courses of summer blockbusters.  No alien invaders, no explosions, no gunplay -- just a romantic trip to the Paris of today and yesterday, courtesy of writer/director Woody Allen.

I have to tell you that I had pretty much given up on the Woodman in recent years.  His later movies seemed too whiny, too obsessed with toffee-nosed Brits (“Match Point” looked like it was shot through the window of a Ralph Lauren boutique), too misanthropic.  And let’s face it, Woody’s private life was nothing to write home about.

We know that blogging is good for SEO, targetting long-tail search terms and having a blog helps establish you as an expert in your field.

Movies: "Super 8"

Movies: "Super 8"

It’s the summer of 1979 and strange things are happening in the small town of Lillian, Ohio.   First there’s a terrifying train derailment.  A detachment of secretive soldiers arrives to clear the wreckage.  Then all the dogs in town run away.  People start to disappear.   And who would possibly want to rip out all the engines from the vehicles sitting in the used car lot?

Those are the first clues to the cleverly plotted “Super 8,” my pick for the best popcorn movie of the summer.

Deer Isle looking to eliminate computer teacher

DEER ISLE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --- A group of students at Deer Isle-Stonington High School say that the school board is being short-sighted in cutting the computer teacher's job.

Liz Small has been teaching classes like graphic art and web design at the school for 19 years. School leaders are now looking to eliminate her position due to declining student enrollment coupled with higher costs for the district.

Several of her students say Small is spending a lot of time in classrooms to help teachers integrate technology in their lessons, and they feel the subjects that she has been teaching are vital to their future success.
